The Live-Action Saint Young Men’s official website revealed today (20/11) that the previously announced Saint Young Men III (聖☆おにいさん 第III紀) will air on NHK on 11th and 18th January 2020. There are 10 short episodes in total and it will air five episodes each day.
▍Story
Saint Young Men (聖☆おにいさん) is originally a manga series written and illustrated by Hikaru Nakamura (中村光). It has been published in Morning Two magazine since 2006. The story centers around the everyday life of Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha, living as roommates in a low-rent Tokyo apartment and adjusting to modern life.
▍Cast and Staff
Kenichi Matsuyama (松山ケンイチ) and Shota Sometani (染谷将太) are returning as Jesus and Buddha respectively.
Yūichi Fukuda (福田雄一), who directed the live-action Gintama (銀魂) also returns as director and scriptwriter. Takayuki Yamada (山田孝之) will be in charge of the production.
▍Live-Action (Season 1 and 2)
The first season was on Picoma TV and it was shot solely in their apartment; then the second season was a theatrical release and the duo start moving around the city. In this new season, the two gods will continue their life in the mortal world.
