The new TV anime adaptation of 07th Expansion’s murder mysteries video game Higurashi When They Cry (ひぐらしのなく頃に) revealed its 1st PV, more of the returning cast and production staff during a live stream on 21st March. It is also announced that the anime will premiere in July 2020.

▍Staff and Production
The project will be animated by Passione with character designs by “Monogatari” Series’ Akio Watanabe (渡辺明夫). “Hayate the Combat Butler” director Keiichiro Kawaguchi (川口 敬一郎) is directing the new series. Naoki Hayashi (ハヤシナオキ) is in charge of the series composition for the anime. Kenji Kawai (川井憲次) returns as the composer for the series.
▍Cast
As previously announced, Sōichiro Hoshi (保志総一朗) will return to cast as Keiichi Maebara (前原 圭一), and Mai Nakahara (中原麻衣) as Rena Ryūgū (竜宮 レナ). The rest of the returning cast includes Satsuki Yukino (ゆきのさつき) as Mion Sonozaki (園崎魅音), Mika Kanai (かないみか) as Satoko Hōjō (北条 沙都子), and Yukari Tamura (田村ゆかり) as Rika Furude (古手 梨花).
▍Manga Adaptation
During the live stream, a manga adaptation by Tomato Akase (赤瀬とまと) was also announced and it will be serialized on Kadokawa Shoten’s “YOUNG ACE UP” monthly seinen manga magazine.
