Square Enix’s action RPG “The World Ends with You” (すばらしきこのせかい) is confirmed to inspire an anime adaptation!
“The World Ends with You” is an action role-playing game with urban fantasy elements developed by Square Enix and Jupiter for the Nintendo DS in 2007. Later, an enhanced port to accommodate the game for mobile devices ported by h.a.n.d. was released in 2012, while an enhanced port for the Nintendo Switch was released worldwide in 2018 under the title “The World Ends with You: Final Remix”.
The game features a distinctive art style inspired by Shibuya and its youth culture. Development was inspired by elements of “Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories”. Tetsuya Nomura (野村哲也), known for designing the characters for the “Final Fantasy” series, is credited as the creative producer and character designer of the game.
More information about the anime adaptation will be revealed on Anime Expo Lite on 3rd July 2020, at 18:00 [ODT]/4th July 2020, at 10:00 [JPT]. This year Anime Expo will be held online due to the effect of the new coronavirus disease.
