Lowiro announced that its “Arcaea” rhythm game is getting a Switch version on May 18 worldwide for US$$39.99.
The Switch version will have two play types, including a traditional touch gameplay and a new play type that uses the Joy-Con controllers. It has a completely revamped progression system for unlocking new songs, characters, and stories—all playable offline.
The game features over 150 songs from over 90 different artists in a multitude of electronic genres. It also includes a brand-new song pack, Divided Heart, containing five songs, the new Partner Shirahime, and a new storyline.
“Arcaea” was first launched for iOS and Android in March 2017. It is a “new dimension rhythm game,” which features a song list created by artists from Japan and across the entire world. The game had over 4.5 million downloads as of May 2020.
The game follows the story of two young girls, who wander in a broken world filled with remnants of its former self: Arcaea. Arcaea are melodical shards of the past that call out to the girls, but each chooses to be experienced only by one or the other. Over time, the girls begin to notice inconsistencies in the Arcaea that choose them and develop conflicting views about the world as it once was.
