The anime film adaptation of Sachiko Kashiwaba’s “Misaki no Mayoiga” / “The Abandoned House by the Cape” (岬のマヨイガ) novel started streaming the 2nd teaser trailer. It is also confirmed to open on August 27 in Japan.
Actress Mana Ashida plays the protagonist Yui and Iwate prefecture’s governor Takuya Tasso plays Kappa of Kozuchigawa.
The designs of the two characters Hiyori and Kiwa-san are also revealed.
The story centers around a traditional Japanese house named “Mayoiga” (named after the Japanese folklore of an abandoned yet well-kept home) from where one can see the sea and feel the touch of warmth and nostalgia. Here, a 17-year-old girl who is trying to find her place in the world begins a new life with people completely unrelated to her.
The anime film, which is set in Iwate prefecture, is a part of an initiative to promote the region under the “Zutto Ōen Project 2011 + 10…” in remembrance of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami 10 years ago.
