Temple of Spikes is a little pixelated time-killing platform game in which you play an adventurer collecting crystals and stars whilst avoiding falling blocks and spikes. The game was previously featured briefly on the iOS app, so I decided to see what it was all about.
The game is relatively simple. The bi-directional control allows players to move left and right. Up and Down controls are not present, but players are still able to climb a 1 block height.
The funky music and retro sound effects helped the game seem a little more refreshing at first, but that quickly died down. Although the idea of the game was not particularly bad, the stages and objective were quite repetitive. Sure, the game has included a variety of different characters with different skills that players can unlock, but for some reason, the game decided that players can’t choose who they want to unlock. Instead, players will have to unlock the characters in order.
Another problem I had with the game was the inconsistent controls. The speed you move on normal blocks varies from time to time which makes the game difficult in an irritating manner.
Despite all that, the game does introduce new elements to the stages which make it worth a while including slow traps and spring traps. The game available on iOS and Android for free, with in-app purchases for crystals, keys, and ad removal.
For those who likes platformers, it’s definitely worth a shot, but if you’re just looking for something casual, I would recommend you just pass this game.
