In the Pokémon Presents that aired earlier today, the next instalment of the mainline Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, was announced for Nintendo Switch for November 2022 worldwide release.

Marking the ninth generation of the Pokémon series, the game has a “seamless open world”, similar to Pokémon Legends Arceus.

Meet the Starters & The Trainer!

The three starters that players can choose have been revealed. From left to right, we have the capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon, Sprigatito, the laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace, Fuecoco and finally the earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon, Quaxly!

Furthermore, the trainer design was also revealed! The player’s outfit colour scheme will vary depending on whether you play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, but the designs are practically identical. It is unknown yet if clothes can be bought like in the previous entries.

Next Destination: Spain!

As is custom for the Pokémon series, the new region is often based off a certain country (i.e. Similar to how Galar was based on the UK, and how Kanto is based off an island in Japan).

While not strictly confirmed, many fans were quick to point out that all of the locations shown in the trailer have inspiration to Spain, with most of the architecture based on the touristic spots of Barcelona.
