During the “Mirage Queen Prefers Parties” celebration event on Sunday, March 12, it was announced a brand new anime production for the Mirage Queen novel series has been greenlit, going by the title “Mirage Queen vacances élégantes” (怪盗クイーンの優雅な休暇).
The original synopsis for the novel centers on a phantom thief called Queen. Described as an enigma with no known gender, age, or nationality, the phantom thief is said to be able to steal anything they desire. Together with their partners Joker and RD, they fly around the world in their airship looking for their next mark.
▍ About Mirage Queen
Published under Kodansha’s “Aoitori Bunko” publication which primarily targets children to younger teens, Mirage Queen has been a standout novel series that has continued for over 20 years. The novel series is written by Kaoru Hayamine with illustrations by K2 Shōka. Fifteen volumes have been published in total as of April 2022.
The novel series would receive its first animated adaptation in 2022, with the release of the OVA film Mirage Queen Prefers Circus, which hit the wide screen on June 17, 2022. East Fish Studio is in charge of the animation production for the anime.
The anime featured voice acting by former Takarazuka actress Yūga Yamato, who also played the role of Tuxedo Mask in the Sailor Moon stage plays, starring as the voice of the titular character Queen.
Other cast members include Kazuki Katou as Joker, Yuuma Uchida as RD, Toshiyuki Morikawa as White Face, Makoto Furukawa as Shamon Saitou, Yuri Noguchi as Silver Cat Hitomi, Hinata Tadokoro as Jean-Paul, Yuusuke Shirai as Styley Inoue, and Natsu Yorita as Beast.
