G-STAR 2016 is the largest game exhibition in Korea. How can Mr. Qoo possibly miss it? With that said, Mr. Qoo flew all the way to Busan just for the exhibition that lasted only four days (17 to 20 November). Well, not exactly for the exhibition. But hey, it is hard to resist all those Korean beauties!
G-STAR is known to be quite small in scale compared to other game exhibitions in Asia. Nevertheless, it has some of the most anticipated exhibitors. As expected, major developers like NEXON, Netmarble and LongTu all attended the show. They all revealed a large number of ongoing projects. The most promising should be Netmarble who is going to release Star Wars™: Force Arena. First of all, it is not common for Asian developer to launch games based on Hollywood blockbusters. Secondly, the gameplay was surprisingly fun (Netmarble please, please keep it this way and not ruin it in the end). Has Mr. Qoo mentioned the adorable R2-D2? Looking at that life-sized robot moving around the hall made the journey so much more enjoyable and heart-warming. It was just too cute to be ignored.
Those life-sized Stormtrooper models almost stole the spotlight from this robotic cutie.
Indulging myself in this Star Wars area made the fact that MANY famous developers were not here almost went unnoticed. Major developers like 4:33 and Com2us were actually absent. To conclude, the exhibition itself had little to offer but the developers themselves at least had some to offer.
Oh don’t forget the cosplaying ladies had plenty to offer, too (wink).
