Earlier today (27th September), Nintendo announced the release date of Mario Kart Tour on iOS and Android devices on 25th September.
The go-kart-style racing game finally arrives smartphone, following the announcement back to 2018 and a closed beta test on Android gave fans their first real look at this new racing title.
The game will be free-to-play, with in-game purchases. The smartphone version follows the concept of playing simply”with just one finger,” which you can steer, drift, use items, and more.
▍Gameplay
The game will feature courses inspired by real-world cities, and will rotate them out every two weeks. Players can also play on classic routes such as rainbow road and Bowser’s Castle, which are featured in the video games.
Characters like Mario, Bowser, Peach, and others will be available to play, but will also get “variations that incorporate the local flavor of cities featured in the game,” according to the official game description. A new Frenzy mode is also available, which is said to “gives an unlimited supply of a certain item and makes you invincible,” for a period of short time.
Other features include an online ranking system and bonus challenges that give you specific goals to complete that don’t always rely on winning. Players can also earn badges for completing challenges that can be displayed alongside their name.
