[Qoo News] Path of Exile Mobile Announced, Promising No “Evil Garbage”

0

Grinding Gear Games announced Path of Exile Mobile at ExileCon last week (16th – 17th November 2019). It is being developed by the same team that worked on the PC versions. The studio promises the game will be original, tailored for smaller gaming sessions, and most importantly, opposing the pay-to-win structure.

In the official trailer, Jonathan Rogers, the co-founder of Grinding Gear Games, is upfront that the mobile games nowadays are full of “evil garbage”. For example, microtransactions, time gates, video ads and notifications, basically, the whole pay-to-win structure. It then made a clear statement that the team is bringing Path of Exile to mobile with absolutely no compromise to these “bullshit trends”.

Gameplay

The demo shows brief gameplay and we can take a sneak peek of the UI, graphics, game mechanics, and look and feel in general. It seems the mobile version retains most of the complex systems of the PC version. It is foreseeable that the game will be compared with Diablo Immortal a lot in the future.

■  The control scheme is similar to other ARPG’s (e.g. controlling movement on the left and actions on the right)

For now, further details of Path of Exile Mobile such as required specifications, platforms, and release date are not available yet. However, the phone they used to run the game in the trailer is an iPhone 11 Pro Max, that might be a hint that it will land on iOS and a pretty beefy phone is preferred.
