DMM’s popular web and mobile game Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞) will get a new anime spin off, Katsugeki Touken Ranbu (活撃 刀剣乱舞), in July this year. New characters including players’ character Saniwa (審神者) were revealed in the premiere event three days ago (1st May).

Saniwa and another new character Konnosuke (こんのすけ) will be voiced by Junko Minagawa (皆川純子) and Takuma Nagatsuka (永塚拓馬) respectively.
Katsugeki Touken Ranbu is set in the Bakumatsu period and focuses on Izuminokami Kanesada (和泉守兼定) and Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki (陸奥守吉行) who are both katana that belong to famous Bakumatsu warriors. The anime is currently in production at Ufotable studio.
