Gamescom 2022, one of the biggest video game events in Europe, has returned from August 23 through August 28 in Cologne, Germany! The six-day event promises news on the hottest gaming releases in 2022 and beyond, with the latest announcements, live shows, and trailers.
Following the cancellation of E3 2022, Gamescom 2022 makes a bold comeback with a slew of new and future titles. Much of the news came from Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live presentation and Day 1’s Future Games Show, with some publishers also making announcements around the same time.

Dune: Awakening is An Open-World Survival MMO
The sci-fi cinema blockbuster Dune is getting a new open-world survival MMO titled Dune: Awakening that takes inspiration from both Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve’s Academy Award-winning film.
The game will place thousands of players at once on a shared version of Arrakis, tasking them to build their own shelters, bases, and factions. Players can explore the world using Dune’s various vehicles, find the hidden treasure before sandstorms change the world, and even use harvesters to gather spice.

Moving Out 2 Announced
The worldwide hit Moving Out is getting a sequel! Moving Out 2 promises a return of the F.A.R.Ts with online co-op, cross-play, and a bizarre cast of new characters and over 50 new levels!
The announcement trailer featured a picturesque holiday destination, a space station, a whole array of bizarre contraptions and machines designed to make your life that much harder.

Sonic Frontiers Gets a Release Date
Sega revealed a new trailer and release date for Sonic Frontiers, the first 3D open-world game of the series. Pre-order of the game is also available now.
The game takes players to a vast archipelago with Sonic’s supersonic speed. The story takes the stage in the Starfall Islands, an unknown area where an ancient civilization sleeps. Sonic’s new adventure begins in a land full of mysterious ruins and eerie enemies.
Sonic Frontiers will be released on November 8 on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Check HERE for details.
Where Winds Meet is a New Wuxia Open-World Action RPG
Everstone Studio by NetEase unveiled Where Winds Meet, an open-world action-adventure RPG where players forge their own destiny in the final days of the Ten Kingdoms era of Chinese history.
Apart from an epic story, the game will take players to experience fast-paced martial arts battles, and explore a massive game world that is both beautiful to behold and filled with secrets waiting to be discovered.

Dead Island 2 Finally Gets a Release Date
After the previous Amazon leak, the release date of Dead Island 2 is finally confirmed at Gamescom 2022! A new gameplay trailer is also unveiled showcasing how you fight to reclaim Los Angeles from hoards of zombies.
The game offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story, to truly immerse you in its twisted universe. The sequel to the hit zombie title is expected to be more intense with many weapons and brutal tactical options to blast your way through the zombie gangs.

Lies of P is a Pinocchio-Inspired Soulslike
The soulslike action RPG Lies of P gets a new trailer in Gamescom 2022 that previews its Pinocchio-Inspired story and Dark Soul-Inspired gameplay.
Players take the role of a mechanical version of Pinocchio, who is on the hunt for Gepetto and in pursuit of gaining his own humanity. The trailer also features in-game footage of Pinocchio wielding weapons and his mechanical body in a Victorian, steampunk nightmare town.

Scars Above is a New Sci-fi Action Shooter
Prime Matter Studio unveiled a new sci-fi third-person ARPG shooter, Scars Above, in which players traverse an open world with bizarre alien wildlife ready to pounce at you from every corner.
Unfortunately, little gameplay is shown in the Gamescom 2022 trailer and it kind of reminds us of Returnal, but we will have to wait to find out more.

Honkai: Star Rail’s Story Trailer Highlights More Characters
The highly anticipated Honkai: Star Rail reveals a new story trailer in Gamescom 2022 featuring the characters from Xianzhou, which includes Dan Heng, Jing Yuan, and Blade.
The turn-based RPG takes place several years after Honkai Impact 3rd, as Welt Yang travels to a parallel universe, leaving his old one behind to embark on a new journey. What follows is a new adventure spanning multiple worlds, and the franchise’s signature characters, in an effort and uncover the trailblazer’s past while solving the issues of the other worlds they come across.

Wyrdsong is a Historical Fantasy RPG by Elder Scrolls and Fallout Veterans
Something Wicked Games announced Wyrdsong, an occult historical fantasy RPG that sets in Portugal during the Middle Ages.
The game is under development by industry veterans from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, The Outer Worlds, and more. Not much has been revealed from the announcement at Gamescom 2022, except that it is an open-world RPG.

New Tales from the Borderlands Gets Release Date
New Tales from the Borderlands revealed a new trailer and release date in Gamescom 2022. The title is a new standalone, choice-based interactive narrative adventure set in the Borderlands universe.
Within the perpetually war-torn metropolis of Promethea, players will decide the fates of three underdogs out to make mayhem their business, with altruistic scientist Anu, her ambitious “streetwise” brother Octavio, and the fierce, frogurt-flinging Fran.

Friends vs Friends is a Colorful Deck-Building PvP Shooter
Brainwash Gang and Raw Fury announced Friends vs Friends, a first-person shooter that combines combat and deck building in a colorful anthropomorphic animal-themed environment.
The twist on the game is that you’ll have a hand of zany effect cards at your disposal that affects you and your enemies. For example, you can turn into a titan to do more damage and become easier to shoot, turn invisible until your next attack, and even get vampire bullets that heal you with each successful hit on opponents.

Phantom Hellcat is a New 2D-3D Hack-n-Slash
Phantom Hellcat is a perspective-changing action-adventure game by Ironbird Creations, a new studio from Ghostrunner publisher All in! Games. Follow the adventure of Jolene, who tries to save her kidnapped mother from this cursed theater filled with dangerous vampires.
Players will traverse along the 3D and 2D camera-shifting perspectives with platforming controls throughout beautiful, hand-crafted theater sets. Utilize the powers sealed within mysterious character masks to strengthen Jolene’s stats and learn new abilities to build up combo scores.

The Callisto Protocol Unveils Gameplay Trailer
The third-person survival horror shooter The Callisto Protocol has a new gameplay trailer in Gamescom 2022, highlighting the game’s stealth mechanics, enemy interactions and mutations, and how melee combat works.
The game is created by the team at Striking Distance Studios, which is made up of a number of key figures behind the Dead Space franchise. Details of the gameplay can be found HERE.
The Callisto Protocol is set to release for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 2.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series Arrives Next Summer
The Expanse: A Telltale Series offers a closer look with the first gameplay trailer at Gamescom 2022. We now also have a release window – summer 2023. The world premiere introduced several new gameplay elements that go beyond what people experienced with past Telltale games, such as the fact that players have greater authority over the action.
The game is a prequel to the popular sci-fi TV series and was first announced at The Game Awards last year. The game features Camina Drummer as the main protagonist, who is one of the main characters of the Amazon TV show.

Park Beyond Delayed to 2023
Bandai Namco’s Park Beyond gets a new trailer in Gamescom 2022, shedding the spotlight on the modular building and extensive customization available for you to create a personalized park. The game has been delayed from its previously planned 2022 release window to 2023.
The amusement park management game allows you to build and manage every detail of your amusement park, which includes designing shops, decorations, and facilities to build the park of your dreams.

Gotham Knights’ Release Date Moves Up to October 21
Warner Bros. Games and DC have moved up the release date of Gotham Knights. A villain trailer is also revealed at Gamescom 2022, highlighting Harley Quinn and Clayface.
In this open-world action RPG, players will step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, who rise up as the protectors of Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death.

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate Gets Release Date
MyDearest unveiled a new trailer and release date for its upcoming sci-fi futuristic VR game, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate.
Players take on the role of Hal, a Special Supervisor in Astrum Close City. A futuristic marine location, Astrum Close City is a place where crime has been eradicated. When the founder of the city is suddenly murdered, Hal must step in and bring the suspect to justice.

Tower of Fantasy 2.0 Update Coming This Fall
Tower of Fantasy revealed a new trailer for its version 2.0 at Gamescom 2022, which is expected to launch this fall. The expansion will include a new region, Vera.
The Desert Gobby makes up the main area of the Vera, an irradiated wilderness with the cyberpunk hub of Mirroria found in the heart of the desert. More about the update can be found HERE.
NeverAwake is a Nightmarish Shoot ’em Up
Developer Neotro and publisher Phoenixx unveiled NeverAwake, a bullet hell game that follows the grotesque nightmares of a little girl.
In the game, players will dodge, aim and shoot in 360-degree levels, gather enough power to unleash a wide blast around Rem when surrounded by foes as she drifts through beautiful hand-drawn landscapes of fears and monstrosities of the girl’s nightmares.

SCP Secret Files Gets Release Date
GameZoo Studio unveiled the release date for its new horror game, SCP Secret Files at Gamescom 2022.
You join as rookie researcher Carl for Dr. Raymond Hamm, who explores an anthology of five different SCP cases. If you’re unfamiliar with the SCP Foundation, it is a collection of short stories and logs of mysterious anomalies, including objects, places, and creatures.

God Of Rock is a Rhythm-Based Fighting Game
Modus Games revealed God of Rock, a fighting game that brings music and combat together. The game blends rhythm-based gameplay with fighting game mechanics and intense 1v1 matches.
In each fight, players have to keep up with the beat, as well as attack their opponents with special moves, EX moves, and supers. The game also features over 40 original songs, each with its own unique and challenging tracks to master.

The Devil In Me Gets Release Date
Supermassive Games has announced a release date for its latest Dark Pictures Anthology entry The Devil in Me at Gamescom 2022.
As the fourth installment in the series, the game will tell the story of a group of filmmakers trapped in a replica of H. H. Holmes’ infamous ‘Murder Castle’ hotel.

The Lords of The Fallen Reboot Announced
Deck 13 announced a reboot of the 2014 souls-like, Lords of the Fallen under the title of The Lords of The Fallen. A new trailer was revealed at Gamescom 2022 but it didn’t feature any gameplay but did deliver a sense of the world and tone.
Just like its predecessor, The Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG with an all-new adventure in a world that has fallen into an even darker age, over a thousand years after the events of the original 2014 hit.
